Gyako agreed to Taiyka’s invitation and the dragon cat trio decided to do some sightseeing around the town. Wikari was much, much bigger than Palas in terms of size and height. Many two-story houses lay neatly along the road made of various colours and materials. The streets were very busy with many cats hauling goods from the market in carts or some selling items on the side of the road in makeshift stalls. Many of the houses seemed to have a scheme where the first floor would be a shop and the family that runs it lives above.

Little kittens played in the streets with each other, some games that Gyako knew of some he didn’t. But the overall atmosphere of the town was a rush to get the last-minute preparations done for the festival. Many families could be seen putting up lanterns and decorations or painting their walls to just make the place look a bit nice.


“Taiyka?” Gyako started. “Why’s everyone putting up this stuff, is something happening?”


“Oh, they’re just preparing for the festival,” she responded.


“Oh yeah, I remember the guards said something about that, what’s it about?”


“Well, it’s called the Fete da Flambile where we celebrate the gift of our fire-breathing ability and what makes us, well us. It’s in honour of the first dragon cat Flambile or so he was called It’s really fun. There’s lots of food in the town center, singing, dancing, there’s also gonna be fireworks.”



“Oh, I think I know what you’re talking about, we celebrate something similar back in Palas. Damn, I forgot about that festival, I can’t believe I left before then.”


“And let your mother do all the work…” Zonos monotonously chimed in.


“Yeah, you’re a bad son,” Taiyka teased pulling Gyako’s ear.


“Hey, that’s not nice,” Gyako said, getting all defensive, “I’ll have you know I love my mother very much and I would have been there to help her if I remembered.”


Taiyka and Zonos continued to tease Gyako about his forgetfulness as they passed by a couple more homes. This is where Gyako saw something that he had never seen before. A flying dragon cat. She was blue with some yellow marking yellow wings helping her brothers put up lanterns while their father supervised. Taiyka saw Gyako staring at her and immediately honed in on it.



“Someone’s caught your eye huh?” she said in a suggestive tone.


“No,” Gyako replied, “It’s just that I’ve never seen a flying dragon cat before. None live in my village.”


“Really, well many of them live in this town, no doubt you will meet a couple on your stay here. And hey you might get together with one and ya know, “Taiyka sticks out her forked tongue and claps her paws together.


“W-w-what’s that supposed to mean?” Gyako said all blushed and confused.

“Ya know,” she claps her paws again.



“She’s talking about sex,” said Zonos getting a bit frustrated with this conversation.


Gyako’s blush deepened, “Hey that’s not what I came here for. Only adventure, only adventure!”



Gyako looked back to the blue cat and she looked his way and gave him a gentle smile. She was quite beautiful he had to admit but he just didn’t know if he could be as forward with it as Taiyka was insinuating. Not that he wanted to get into a relationship at this point either. He hadn’t really thought about settling down with a partner.


“Don’t worry, I just kixing with ya,” Taiyka said nudging his shoulder, “Anyhooooo, I have someone I would like you to meet, she should be just around this corner.”
