A kind of otter like creature that can be found in areas with a lot of water. This creature has quartz growing from its body, with its claws being made up of them, but more notably it has a large amount of quartz coming from its back. The quartz spikes on it’s back seem to help to deter predators.

Good question (let me make up answer to such a creature), I would say it may have a very dependable material that makes up its skeleton. The skeleton would probably have to be thick, yet maybe weaker in parts of the back, so the creature can more easily move it’s back around which I could imagine would be important for a creature like this to do.
