Although the original concept of Reginald the Rat was a non-canon character, I decided to make him canon after all. The name came from a character from my in-universe television show The Adventures of Drummer Dog, portrayed as a strict circus drum major whose habits and behaviors made life difficult for the circus he was part of; over time, he learned to be more open-minded, flexible, and kind-hearted, and in return, the others chose to seek to understand him better.

The actor, whose first name is also Reginald, is cousins with the Magical Drummer; since the show's cancellation, the former began helping the latter with his musical payroll assignments, and eventually enrolled in the payroll himself, continuing to play his instrument of choice (trombone).

WBC is developing a reboot of the show at this time, with new stories added to remade versions of the original; Reginald will reprise his role as the fictional version of himself, as well as play music on the soundtrack. (The show is notable for its double-duty work ethic; the main actor who became known as Drummer Dog 1, who played the title character, also wrote the music for the show, and the rat played trombone on it.)
