I use water to thin in out too. Was what happened when you used water? :o If it got really bleedy on the paper it could be the paper. I'm using some "bleed proof" stuff that's meant for ink. It helps a bit buuut I was having bleeding issues too. >_< Works great for the plain ink though! ;p
I had some wrinkling.. because I am impatient and got too much area wet at once but once the ink is DRY dry I sammich it between some books for a little while. At least for the larger pix. With smaller ones, the slight wrinkling isn't as noticeable so I don't bother.
Paper I use is by Borden & Riley called Paris Paper for Pens. If you google it, you'll see what the cover looks like. Its kind of a pain to find in stores anymore. I had to order this last pad cause all I have around here is Michael's and Hobby Lobby and neither of them carry it. Its not terribly expensive for what it is though. It also works really well for colored pencils if you're going for a smooth look. I've used watercolor on it before and though it takes the color nicely, it does wrinkle and warp with all the water.
