Right, so. I have been meaning to make a proper ref of this thing for a while. Ended up kinda text heavy, and there is a lot more I could add :x Parts probably don't make much sense without going into more depth about the world it lives on and other creatures and concepts that live there.
Much wtfery..

The zarathus was first created when I was 12, its design based upon an interesting natural pattern I found in a wooden panel on the ceiling of a factory office, in a run down industrial area. The name was borrowed from a sea dragon character I had created years earlier.
The original zarathus had an entirely different appearance, was male, and was not intended to be “me” in any way. Somehow this creature latched onto my mind unlike any others had, and after writing a story in which the main character, zarathus, represented me, I became obsessed with the idea. Unfortunately that hasn’t really changed since. :|
Its appearance and personality have changed a lot over time, pretty much changing to fit however seems to express my brain best to me at any given time. As such the zarathus has no solidly defined form, or any definite character background or history. It is generally just a solitary wanderer used as a tool of expression.
Its literal background could be interwoven with its fabricated one, being a creature created through a tree (sesraw) and being adapted and modified over time. As well as having a curious affinity for urban/industrial decay.
Has loose associations with other creatures such as california condor and hyenas. Was created by/pestered by demons, guided by dragons and a friend to canids.
._.
Edit: this is now kinda outdated and lame, some/a lot of the info has changed..

Being text heavy is fine, if anything its feeding my natural desire to apply realism to fantasy in a fashion to make it seem plausible in my mind. Interesting concept with the crop organ and what's associated with it.
warning, science mode activated ahead:
Now is this 5 feet tall at the withers? If so then I estimate a body length of about 18-20 feet with close to half of that being the tail. Further more due to how slender the body is I would also estimate ~600-700 pounds. All just speculation on my part though, especially the weight part since I'm obviously not familiar with the realm of which it resides nor the physical laws there.
Course, since Zarathus is your character what you say goes lol.
But yes is very interesting.

Five feet at the top of its head, excluding ears. I forget that people usually measure to the shoulders.
I tend to assume that most of my creations would not really work in the physical world though, and I have to admit I have a pretty rudimentary knowledge of how living systems would actually be able to function. Mostly its just thrown together in a way that makes my brain happy... lol.
Thanks very much for your thoughts thar :D

well as long as it makes you happy that's all that matters! I'm just too much of a science person to not have it meld into my concepts of fantasy a bit. Sad to say I actually go out of my way to figure out other peoples characters even if its only to make my brain happy lol.
And the more abnormal the creature is the more I want to figure out how it works, even if the system is only functional in unrealistic setting.

I love watching characters develop and I love how Zarathus has shifted through the years :3 I don't think I like or dislike any version more than another, but even so, I think this version i really nice! It feels really suited to be a person's personal character! I loved reading the little traits, and I like the hand design, as well as the thought of mock horns.
I've always loved zarathus, and still do.

I looked at this and I suddenly remembered that Zarathus RP and all the information for the species that you had
