Kite still exists in Starclan because he never made deep enough grudges during his life to cause other cats to hate him so viscerally as the rest of his male relatives were hated. Kite actually instated Elm as deputy while he had 4 lives left, lost one to an accident, and then the remaining 3 not much later to a horrid blackcough outbreak just as he was considering demoting Elm to allow a better suited, more fair cat to become deputy instead of following family tradition.
