Had an art jam last night with some local folks, decided to draw my "sparkle pony", Quasi. This is the first colored version of her!
She is a Karkadann (Persian/African unicorn) (as suggested by
cunningfox on my last updated sketches of her) based off of a quagga. She has iridescent stripes that shimmer green and purple like a mallard that fade to brown as they go down her body. She has bronze hooves, yellow eyes, and a lion's mane-like tuft that runs down her front. Her forelock is based off of a Fjord horse (in that it's mostly white with a darker stripe going through it). Her tail is inspired by heraldic lions and unicorns (with the multiple and curly tufts).
Though I refer to her as "she", she can be shown as either gender or genderless, kind of like how Amaterasu of Okami is referred to as both since she is a god.
I don't have a sparkle dog but I have a sparkle pony. Don't hate me! XD

I LOVE her!
I always like how in your description you broke down her entire composition into the animals that inspired her.
The mallard concept is fantastic--I never would have thought to do something like that. Definitely one of my favorite fantasty critters I've seen on here. I especially love the way her face is colored. I love the way you implemented the color of her head without causing the design to look crowded around her face. One emphatic "YES" to this character.

Yay thank you so much!!! I've admired others who have iridescence on their characters and I wanted to attempt it, though mine is the most mallard-like that I've seen. I love those little guys they're so pretty!
I was worried about making her too "front"-heavy with her markings, so I tried to counter that with putting some iridescent streaks through her tail end, hopefully it worked!
