Something I felt inspired to warm up with today, listening to the Loki outro on loop for a little under two hours, because for some reason I feel it suits discreet's stuff. Listen for yourself link>>>
I've loved the concept of
discreet_user's lanterns since I first saw them and I've wanted to draw one for the longest time. Unfortunately I don't have the time to render it to the degree I would want to, but I'm satisfied with what it is considering what I did allow myself to take for it.
I suppose it's fitting the image remains a little rougher, as it's somewhat reminiscent of discreet's style, though saying that is more of a disservice to their art, because while their style is definitely more abstract and conceptual than others, discreet's skill can level with the likes of Nomax or Honovy, and you can fight me on that.
Anyway, back to work.

Oh, what a lovely concept. And the rendering is delicious. Interesting lighting is always such a draw for me, even when it's not bioluminscence (although that's an extra plus).
It works particularly well with the opaque clothing here. I almost immediately want to see something similar but with semi-opaque or lacey hints, mesh, etc.

I mean ... I honestly don't know enough about the lanterns to tell you whether their glowing couldn't be considered bioluminescence - it is a part of their natural bodies after all.
