It was finally within your grasp. The lost armor of the Nile. Thought to be lost thousands upon thousands of years ago, it was just hidden to those not baptized in the ways of finding those ancient secrets. But you found it after finding the hidden meanings in scrolls of papyrus, after locating ancient texts written in languages lost to time. An ancient tomb to one known as ‘The Patriarch’. You hand’t heard this name before, and no texts referenced it to your findings. But it’s time to fulfill an archaeologist’s dream, to delve into the ancient unknown tomb of this Patriarch and bring its treasures back into the modern world. Your plane ticket couldn’t come fast enough, and of course you got a few friends to come along.
When you get to Egypt, your findings direct you to the Nile river itself. Along its twists, turns, and currents…you come to the spot where it says it is located. A plethora of Sobek’s children lay along the Nile, sunning themselves to warm their blood. And now their eyes turn to you. You step forward with trepidation, but they part for you…making a clear path into the waters of the Nile itself. You check your map again and see its not above ground…but under. So you inhale and dive in to the crocodile infested waters to find this entrance.
Success!
An underwater tunnel flows down underneath the riverbed. Not terribly long but enough to induce anxiety. Your heart skips a beat as right in front of you a huge albino crocodile comes up form the bog of the mud. Majestic and terrify at the same time. You almost inhale the river water….but the crocodile moves along underneath you, letting you pass seemingly. You continue forward until you break the surface. A MASSIVE pyramid is stands before you in this underground cavern. The air is stale but breathable. The Pyramid of the Patriarch.
You follow the path with your party. Grabbing an unlit torch or using some lights to guide your path. You find the entrance, the door rumbles open, sliding down into the ground to reveal a tomb sealed numerous lifetimes ago. Spider webs, layers of dust, and knowledge lost to the ages abound. You are careful of traps, and they are numerous to keep grave robbers…adventurers… like you out.
But eventually you come to the main chamber. A huge chamber with a massive sarcophagus in the center. Its rather large, definitely not for someone of average size. But you spot it, hanging on the wall the Armor of the Nile. Worn by Pharaoh Dematraxus to send innumerable souls to the Duat through combat. Made of an ancient gold blessed by Sobek himself, and razor sharp to the touch in some spots. Its finally yours. You go to grab the pieces to take them off of the wall. A breeze flows through, putting out some of the fires and torches. Your friend blows the dust off the walls and beings to read some hieroglyphs. A moment later a GASP of fear “Th-th-the patriarch is Pharaoh Dematraxus!” you all turn to face your friend reading the ancient language, “Those who desecrate this tomb shall have their very flesh rended and devoured, their souls bound to this place to serve the ancient Pharaoh or be cast down into the Duat. Let you be judged and may the awakened Pharaoh have mercy upon your souls.”
As the final words are read, the doors to the chamber close with a resounding THUD that shakes the pyramid, causing loose stone and sand to fall from the ceiling. You all look around until you hear the sound of rock sliding against rock from the center of the room. Slowly, yet consistently. A deep, ragged, guttural bellow is heard that vibrates your very soul. You look over towards the center, shining your light as you see him. The 11’ 2” crocodile of lore, Communer of Sobek, Pharaoh, Patriarch of the Priesthood of Sobek…crawling out of the sarcophagus. His form preserved well for its time, though still decayed from ages of mummification. His muscular form crawling out, shambling in ways as ethereal life behind those eyes takes notice of you. Another ragged bellow is heard as he notices you….AND CRAWLS AT YOU WITH OTHER WORDLY SPEED!!!
Screams are heard and it happens in a flash. The torches are snuffed out, and the tomb has gained new protectors for any others who wish to rob the Pharaoh of his treasures…

Holy crap, i literally dont even know what to say about this piece. Its so visceral, creepy, and horror inducing! This is definitely one of my all time favorites! I grabbed a Halloween slot and its like an ephinany happend! We have the perfect theme already built in! So SepiaFlux went to absolute town on this and knocked it out of the park! The story should set the mood for an 11' 2" crocodile chasing you and your friends in a dark tomb with that terrifying fast crawl!
