So I FINALLY finished FFVII: Crisis Core.
It's not as if I didn't know how it was going to end, but the song they play while Zack is fighting for his life against the Shinra army in the battle that ultimately leads to his death... yeah. Awesome song. Ultra sad, but awesome.
Since then, it's been in my head constantly, and one day I began setting lyrics to it. Since realizing that they had the real love story that the other games in the VII universe never quite finished (what with Aeris being slain and Cloud running off into the wilderness during the events leading up to Advent Children), I thought of the song as something like a parting love ballad from Zack to Aeris. It's like a belated apology for being gone and silent so long since Nibelheim, even if it wasn't his fault, and an expression of his one true regret in life - that he couldn't make it back to see her one last time.
Here's the result of all that thought and feeling, slammed together between rewriting my resume and other various crap.
