Hues of Sorrow, Colors of Sadness (Part 2)
Part 1: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/54201642/
As fate would have it, the reason for both the manor and forest’s distortion was a direct result of Ava’s sparra and the demonic power that forced it to be unlocked; casting the entire area into a nightmarish vista as a direct result of the uncontrolled power and emotional distress that fueled it. In addition, the link between Orion and Oblivia was cut due to the interior of the mansion housing a small pocket dimension that would trap all who entered it; ensuring no one would escape the moment they set foot within the manor’s walls. Furthermore, the ghostly knight Orion fought against was also a result of Ava’s power corrupting the last thing she held closest to her heart; turning it into an embodiment of the rage, sorrow, and despair Ava continued to harbor over both her mortal life and her life as a shadow. After revealing such information, Oblivia the proceeded to reveal the other resulting effects of Ava’s power and how many people lost their lives not just by her hand but by the shadows that were drawn to her negative energy and the effigy that was spawned because of her.
Hearing how much destruction and carnage she had unleashed, Ava couldn’t bear the thought that she had caused so much suffering; when in truth, she never truly wanted to hurt anyone. Falling to her knees, Ava began to shed tears as she profusely apologized, unsure of what she could do or say. His wounds mended, Orion stood up and hugged Ava, trying to comfort her; understanding her feelings. Kneeling in front of the grieving Ava, Oblivia gently spoke and told her guest how she truly understood what was in her heart and soul; stating firmly that even when she was a demon, she did not needlessly take lives in the pursuit of power or senseless carnage. Offering Ava her hand, Oblivia stated that if Ava truly wished to atone for what she caused, she could assist her and her cause to help the world in regulating such issues in the future. A sincere smile on her face, Oblivia told Ava that she was free to decline her offer, but should she accept, she would be treated with dignity, respect, and compassion: things she was denied when she was a mortal; in addition, she would have her freedom to do as she chooses with no restrictions attached. As Ava thought to herself, she quickly realized that she would be once again serving someone else; but the options given to her as well as desire to do right with her powers, it didn’t feel as if she was being thrown into another form of slavery, rather it was her helping in any way she could. The sincerity and kindness shown to her by both Orion and Oblivia, only served to further persuade her. A gentle smile on her lips, Ava gently took Oblivia’s hand and agreed to assist Oblivia and her cause. Pleased with her guest’s decision, Oblivia smiled at Ava and told her new apprentice she would not regret her decision. However, still sensing Ava’s lack of understanding when it came to her powers, Oblivia suggested that Ava learn to both harness and properly control her abilities now that they were unlocked. Offering to teach her how to control her powers, Oblivia stated that she would help to provide various opportunities that Ava was denied in her mortal life; hoping to restore her faith and hope in the process. Hearing such kind words, Ava vowed to do her best, and even if she left her old life behind, she was excited to start over. Even if her life had to be “reset”, Ava saw that what the old butler and father told her would come truth, as she would be granted her freedom and happiness with people who would truly care for her. Ava’s heart given compassion, her imprisonment ended, and her hopes restored; the curse that plagued the manor and its landscape was broken, and from the dispelled darkness, a brighter future could be born as the eerie mist cleared and the sun could greet the land.
Personality: Having lived for so long and having experienced so much over the course of her years, Ava’s personality and overall demeanor has changed based on the influences of the atmosphere and the people around her; along with her general mindset and views of the world. From her time as a normal person, to her years as a shadow, to her current self, much of Ava’s mindset was molded by both the positive and negative energy that surrounded her.
When Ava was a normal young lady, she was very polite and well-mannered due to the teachings she received by the various servants who looked after her. Unfortunately, due to the position her stepmother unfairly placed her in, Ava was very subservient and susceptible to the whims of those around her; doing exactly what was asked of her without question. As Ava was raised to be a maid, she did not have the same mentality as her stepsister and stepmother; instead, having a sweet and friendly demeanor to her that allowed her to get along with the various servants around her without issue and pleasantly interact with others. Despite being given so little, Ava displayed a somewhat begrudging contentment with what she did have; sometimes expressing outright reluctance in regard to asking for more. Even when it was revealed that she was supposed to rightful gain access to the manor and its wealth before her father’s death, Ava never pursued claiming the status or wealth her nobility offered her. Despite her contentment, Ava did display a thirst for learning due to the influence of the butler who looked after the other servants. She enjoyed the various subjects taught to her and used it as a form of escapism to get away from the ritualistic abuse she suffered. In spite of the life she was cast into, Ava never really saw it as an excuse to treat anyone else poorly. This is largely due to the few people who truly cared for her, all of whom she deeply cherished and acted as the light that kept her from being consumed by her inner darkness. Even Oblivia speculated that had Ava not had the support of her father, trusted butler, and the other servants; she more than likely would have been far more vindictive and would have become a shadow much sooner than she did. Due to her situation, Ava never truly spoke her mind and would commonly hold her tongue, never mentioning any hopes or ambitions and outright refusing to complain. Despite her refusal to speak on such things, Ava still had desires and dreams; the two most prevalent ones being love and freedom. Ava held a very strong longing to be taken away and given the love she was so cruelly denied by her stepfamily. While these two desires held firmly in Ava’s mind, the one thing that truly kept these ideals alive was the hope that Ava adamantly held on to in a desperate attempt to maintain her faith that things would get better. Unfortunately, with this hope, dwelled a darker side of Ava; as the more she clung to her desires, the more her resentment and despair continued to fester within her when she was denied them. The more time passed, the stronger her negative emotions continued to burn within her; and as she kept these feelings to herself and with no way to properly release them, the more destructive they became. It wasn’t until losing one of the last people who truly cared for her that Ava lost the light that helped her keep her hope, resulting in her inner turmoil to quickly grow stronger, causing her negative emotions to eventually consume her.
As a shadow, Ava demonstrated various characteristics that were commonplace for the demons such as enhanced aggression, murderous intent, and volatile rage; behavior that was a direct result of the abuse and cruelty she suffered in her normal life. However, while the darkness within her was enough to transform much of Ava, it did not seem to fully corrupt her as she still harbored some form of restraint and morality, something that was uncommon for shadows. This is evident in the fact that, while Ava did in fact kill people, much like other shadows, she only did so with those who were the sources of her resentment and those who attempted to kill her; choosing to leave others alone. This behavior is further supported by Ava not senselessly attacking the other servants of the manor amidst the chaos she created, choosing not to actively pursue and kill innocent people, and her refusal to attack Orion upon first meeting him. In addition to this, Ava expressed remorse for her slaughtering of others while in her demonic state, in spite of her prior negative feelings towards them. After effectively scaring away any would-be contenders and being left alone in the manor; Ava’s typical demonic behavior lessened, but in its place, boundless despair and sorrow took over. It was then that Ava’s demeanor changed drastically as she became downtrodden and sullen; being put into a state of perpetual grieving and lamentation in regards to what she never got to achieve, the lives she took, and what she had become. Believing that she would forever be alone and without love or comfort, Ava relegated herself to staying prisoner at the manor she lived at; almost as if scared of what would happen if she were to leave the mansions’ walls.
Ava’s demeanor after joining Oblivia’s efforts could best be described as introverted and distant, as she interacted very minimally with the people around her and typically kept her responses to a minimum, sometimes being very straightforward with her words. In tandem to this, Ava would often sport a stoic and unbothered expression that further emphasized the outward demeanor she typically displayed. Although, this caused Ava to appear very aloof and asocial at times; in truth, she desired to be included in whatever activities occurred around her and desperately wanted companionship with others. Unfortunately, Ava couldn’t bring herself to take the first step and interact with others due to her nervousness; instead choosing to be by herself and only speaking to others unless asked to or approached first. Compounding this was Ava’s lack of social skills and inability to properly express herself; all of which was a direct result of her insecurities and the uncertainty she held regarding herself. The barriers in Ava’s mind truly prevented her from getting close to others and the mental and emotional scars she had from her abuse and self-isolation only worsened the feelings she had. It wasn’t until Oblivia suggested that Ava spend time with Orion and the other Apostles, that Ava’s antisocial guise began to slowly crack and chip away due to the kindness and warmth she was treated to. Unfortunately (and unsurprisingly), Ava did have issues initially interacting with others, with her attempts making her come across as awkward if she tried to socialize with others for extended periods of time. This was not helped by Ava’s decidedly low opinion of herself; a result of her being abused by her stepfamily for no other reason than the details surrounding her birth. However, it was due to receiving assurance, compassion, and guidance from those around her, that Ava’s mental and emotional scars began to fade; resulting in her being able to properly develop and for her true self to bloom forth.
In her current state, Ava behaves somewhat similarly to her old self with the main difference being the absence of festering inner turmoil or destructive negative emotions. Ava retains her genuinely kind heart and her sweet demeanor, but it is now combined with a much more relaxed and comfortable mindset and behavior; allowing her to speak and interact with those around her without fear. This is further emphasized by Ava being more inclined to genuinely smile and express her emotions more openly with people, despite the admittedly gloomy appearance she has. While she is able to share her thoughts and feelings more openly, Ava still very polite and well-mannered and tends to choose her words carefully as she doesn’t wish to offend or anger anyone; showing that she cares about the feelings of others. Despite the progress she has made, Ava still has a few shortcomings that she strives to improve upon. One of Ava’s more prevalent issues is her naiveite about the outside world, a result of her experiencing very little of it during both her mortal and demonic life. As such she depends on others to teach her about various topics. However, Ava has proven to be a fast learner and is not entirely reliant on others as she can easily glean the information she needs either through observation or via text and examples. Although Ava is naïve, this lack of knowledge shouldn’t be mistaken for stupidity; as she does have both common sense and a firm understanding of right and wrong, preventing her from being completely taken advantage of.
While Ava still retains her more content demeanor from her old life, this attitude doesn’t come from a feeling of begrudging complacency, but rather due to her being genuinely satisfied with how her new life is. Despite this, Ava still desires to experience more now that she is able to; wanting to do and see the world and what was kept from her due to her stepmother’s callousness. Ava expresses a somewhat subdued yet excitable energy if given the opportunity to experience something new, regardless of how unfamiliar she is with the activity. From the opportunities presented to her, Ava has been able to further enhance her mind, strengthen her understanding of the world, and develop her own hobbies and interests beyond being a simple servant.
While Ava still continues to serve others in her new life, she does so of her own volition and expresses genuine happiness while doing so. Having learned to do and think for herself, Ava chose to assist and do right by others; not out of obligation or fear, but as a show of her appreciation and gratitude. Much of this decision was prompted by her relationships with the Apostles, all of whom treat her as both a person and as an equal; a stark contrast to her prior life. Having friends who rely on her has caused Ava to develop a genuine desire to do more for those around her; with her even going as far as to ask to help on whatever endeavors the others may be tending to, even if she unsure of her ability to accomplish the task. Interestingly enough, despite the work she has done and the gratitude others display; Ava has a hard time accepting compliments or praise, which typically elicits either a flustered or embarrassed response from her. Initially, Ava would be somewhat dismissive or deny any compliments paid to her as she believed she was unworthy of praise due to the low opinion she held of herself. While compliments can sometimes fluster Ava, displays of affection such as hugs have a different effect. While Ava will still behave somewhat shyly when given affection, she behaves much more calmly almost as if basking in the warmth it gives her; finding the interaction to be deeply soothing and associating it with comfort. This feeling was even prevalent as a shadow as when Orion embraced Ava after giving her back her treasured ring, she found herself momentarily at peace as such genuine affection put her at ease; a feeling she had long since forgotten about. Although her old life was filled with hardships and sorrow in both her normal and demonic life; Ava was eventually able to live a life that truly allowed her to develop and grow; gaining the freedom she so desperately wanted; but also allowing her to one day seek the love she desired all those years ago!
Well, im more than certain this ghastly lass will find the love her heart years for. No longer shackled to an unfair fate, Ava can move on to the life beyond her previous sorrowful existence! This was an amazing pic done by the ever awesome

*TRIVIA: Oblivia speculated that Ava must have been an Umbra class shadow given her appearance closely mirroring her past self and also due to the fact she still has her memories; traits that are specific to that ranking of shadow. This means that the corruption that was used in her transformation was of great magnitude!
