Connie took a fighting stance, ready for the Heartless to make its next move. It was then that the Heartless began to lift one of its legs, making Connie prepare to make a counterattack. However, before the Hocus Pocus Heartless could lift its leg up any higher, a loud slash sound could be heard, as well as a thin line go across its entire body, making it come to a complete stop. What followed after was the Heartless beginning to fall forward, making Connie run with what little energy she had left to not get crushed by it. The Hocus Pocus Heartless soon fell back down to the ground, landing face-first, no longer moving. Seeing what had transpired in front of her, Connie was trying to comprehend what had just happened.
????: Looks like I just got here right on time. You did great to hold your own against that Heartless.
Looking towards the direction of the voice, Connie found herself looking at Shred, who was still wearing his Terry Bogard costume, and was wielding his Wrench Keyblade.
Connie: Shred! How did you know where to find me?
Shred: I knew something was up when Johann and Schildra came back to the others but you didn’t. So I went back to the ballroom to get you. But when you weren’t around, and after taking a look out the windows at the back, I was greeted to the site of you fighting against this Halloween Monstrosity. You were lucky that I came when I did.
Connie: Thank you, Shred.
Shred: But I have to ask. If you knew a Heartless like that was roaming around before you went out to fight it. Why didn’t you come back and ask for help!? You even had Johann and Schildra there with you who would more than willingly help out!
Connie winced. Knowing that was Shred was scolding her about was true. She had Johann and Schildra with her, but she instead went out to venture and fight on her own. She could’ve even gone back and have asked Shred for backup. But she didn’t. She knew she had messed up.
Connie: I’m….I’m sorry, Shred. I didn’t know what I was thinking.
Connie felt ashamed, lowering her head in disappointment at herself. Seeing this, Shred could only sigh, not wanting to give Connie the wrong idea about what he was trying to tell her.
Shred: Connie. I know that when it came to Oliver and the other three leaders, we were expected to be able to fight these things on our own if we were alone. But that doesn’t mean we have to fight them alone if we have friends and comrades nearby willing to help out. Because the most important rule in our team above any expectation or anything else was to come back home alive no matter what. After all, we’re not in Daybreak Town anymore. We’re not with random people that would just ditch you. And I would rather not see a good friend and comrade of mine fall here and now when I have seen that they made it out alive from the War.
Shred placed a hand on Connie’s shoulder, reassuring her that he wasn’t mad, but was concerned for her. This made Connie smile again.
Connie: Thanks, Shred. I needed that.
Shred: By the way. I saw that you didn’t use your potion when you were looking exhausted. Why is that?
Connie: It’s because I already used it before going into this fight. I needed to after the fight in the Ballroom.
Shred: I see. Well here, take this then.
Reaching into the pocket of his coat, Shred took out an orange potion, as he handed it over to Connie. Needed to regain her energy, Connie quickly opened the bottle, drinking its contents and restored her health and energy.
Connie: Thanks Shred. I needed that. But where did you get this? I didn’t know they sold potions in this World.
Shred: They don’t. But I do get stuff from certain patrons where I work at that do offer their own possessions in exchange when they don’t have money. Depending on what it is I would take it.
Connie: Well, that’s convenient.
For what felt like an eternity had gone by, the body of the Hocus Pocus Heartless began to fade and disappear. When it did, a Large Heart was in its place, leaving Connie and Shred to watch as the Heart made its ascent up to the sky.
Connie: I still can’t believe that the Heartless followed us even to this World.
Shred: I’m not too surprised really. After all, they are drawn to the Keyblade. So wherever we go, the Heartless are not too far behind.
Connie: I guess that’s the trade-off for being able to use this power we have. But I keep getting this feeling that something big is coming. Something that we would need to prepare for.
Shred: When that time comes, we’ll be ready.
I would like to take this moment to say I hope you liked this Halloween chapter :) . It may have taken 3 years to finally finish it, but it was well worth the wait :D . Hope all of you have a Happy Halloween .
