Here's another sumo sparring match between Tofu and I. You can really tell the difference in size between us.
Tofu's a relatively typical size for a rikishi at around 350lbs or so, you want a good amount of bulk to be able to resist being pushed or grappled but not so much that you impact your agility. By comparison, I'm absolutely massive, at over 600lbs, putting me at around the same size as the legendary Konishiki. While being heavier than your opponent is typically advantageous, if you're too big your weight starts to work against you. It becomes harder to get going, and harder to stop once you do. But honestly, I actually don't mind it that much. I fight more defensively anyway, standing my ground and forcing my opponent to come to me, so I don't have to worry that much about having to deal with the increased momentum of my movements. Also, it's kinda fun being this absolute unit of fat and muscle, even compared to other absolute units of fat and muscle.
It's been a little while since I did a Sumo AU pic. Last one I did was a request for
FrostVulpine , and I haven't really done one that actually shows off Sumo Sloan's size. If Sumo Sloan existed IRL, he'd be among the top five heaviest recorded rikishi, bigger than Dewanojo (the heaviest active rikishi) and just a bit smaller than Yamamotoyama (the heaviest Japanese-born rikishi). His fighting style is very similar to Konishiki's later style after an ankle injury, though with heavier use of arm thrusts, mainly to control spacing.
