He's probably not going to "get lost" for at least another page based on the guard's condition so we can rule that out. :P

Do they just, uh, run on the honor system?

Like nobody checks in after every visit with people with known animosity who threatened to gut the boss previously?

Like the guard not shooting Herc the minute his boss screamed "Help", maybe it was his first day on the job, but someone should have been like "Let's make sure the boss & John Slow-Draw are fine after his visit with the guy that vowed revenge for his friend's maiming."

That said, enjoying the comic, pretty good work.

The boss doesn't like to be disturbed by the staff generally. Most of them don't deal with him on a regular basis, just with the guard.

....and the guard was the one who put a rat through a wall pre-story, so a bit overconfident -- combined with being larger than normal for rabbits, and probably having some barely legal gene mods.

Herc appeared to be unarmed, and Herc's not one of the fighter types among Rick's crew (more on that in a future chapter as to the local system. Rick's _a_ leader of the Vandals, but not the only one). Rather, he's mostly seen dealing with transport -- of either goods or people (such as the busses after the raid)

Rick was there to get paid for a job and didn't have any of the "dangerous" rats with him as far as the guard was concerned.

...of course assuming any of the rats are mostly harmless is a mistake, which, again, we'll touch on a bit later ;)

Glad you're enjoying the comic so far! It'll be going on for a good long while with a second book already being planned along with a few post-book 1 short stories far in the future :) Hopefully the art style will continue to improve over time as well!
