Sascha might have grown up over the years and his best plushie friend Sammy might not look brand new anymore. A little bit flatter, a bit less fluffy, colors not as shiny as in the beginning.
But getting a little bit older has not diminished their friendship one bit.
Of course Sascha knows that is a plushie and that he is not alive in a biological sense. Deep down, those two also had a connection and the bearkitty decided to keep that one alive in his mind, despite him being an adult.
So even some 15-ish years later, not many things have changed between Sammy and Sascha.
They still talk to each other, they still spend time together, sleep together at night and whenever Sascha travels, the long-tailed lynx plushie is surely by his side and travels with him.
And they sometimes share spontaneous cuddly, tender moments together. Just sitting on the bed with some soft lights on in an otherwise dark roomm, snuggling up to each other in a tight embrace and enjoying each others company.
Moments to remember, moments of calm and safety.
I really love that sweet and tender picture that I got from my lovely friend
Mirri.
She knows Sammy IRL (yes, Sammy is real in case you did not know yet) and she knows how much I love that lynx plushie. And here, reality and artwork merges together... as both my fursona or myself could be in that exact same position.

Sammy is really important to me and I am happy that he's still around (and not completely falling apart yet ^^').
So many years ago I decided to make him part of my fursona as well... and well, we don't get younger. Same goes for plushies. But that scene in the artwork could happen pretty much 1:1 in real life. ^.^
That's pretty much like he looks at the moment (just a bit cleaner as I washed him just a few weeks ago): https://www.furaffinity.net/view/54481923/

That's amazing - looks like they're holding up well from the photo, just some natural aging. I'm glad they're still doing so well given how important they are to you.
My partner has a bear she's had literally her entire life that's been patched, stitched, had an eye replaced, etc. but he's still there.

Yeah Sammy is still in good shape. Got refilled once a couple of years back. Pretty good quality plushie (except that they messed up the tail length XD) and ... not cheap.
Sammy got chosen by one of the most important persons of my life and I got him after a super nasty breakup with my Ex-GF.
So yeah, Sammy is very important to me and connected to a person who is more than a friend now.
I do have several older plushies than Sammy tho. Some are holding up super well. Others... sadly not. I also have a bear, named Ben, that I had all of my life. Got stiches, got the eyes glued back on (very clumsily <.<) and I fear his head would fall off iwhen handled because he is so frail now. So he is guarding me from the shelf in my bedroom instead.

That's really nice to hear about Sammy, and glad he's got such positive connections for you. As for the older ones, at least they're still intact well enough to guarding you from the shelf - I have a mouse in a condition similar to that. I found a replacement of the same one at one time and bought it, but it wasn't going to replace the original. I just have both now.
I never broke it down to a specific medical term to be honest.
But I guess the some nerves never developed properly, so he never really had much control.
And having a weak bladder myself (without apparent physical reasons) with other medication making it worse, I sure feel him there.
But as I said, I didn't go into too much detail except "he needs them due to medical issues, but he is fine with it and even kinda embraced it as well"
