At roads end and a few steps beyond
I'm standing in the lake, just a few steps from the end of the road, or where the old road meets the lake...
How far could I walk???
Only as far as my hiking boots would allow before it becoming waaaaaaay to chilly to continue it was only 20f something outside (-6c) so you could imagine the water temp.

Nippy waters then - hrr
I had so many questions in my mind looking at this picture
-Why there's road going to the lake?
-Why there's tree trunks in the lake?
-Why you're standing on it?!
:D
but I found your achieve explaining it's near hydro power plant. That's cool and interesting :)

So here's how our local hydroelectric system works. I'll start in the summer when the lake is at its fullest:
Summer=Full lake behind the Dam and water releasing enough to keep the dam full but still provide power.
In the fall the hydroelectric dam starts to release water downstream and generates more power until they eventually drain the lake into winter season
Winter=Emptying lake
This area is waaay up in the mountains so the hills and mountains get snowed upon and an Snowpack/icepack forms in valleys and mountains surrounding the dam.
In the spring this all melts off and refills the lake so the cycle can begin again, so there will always be a generating power source throughout the year. This is one of a few dams on this source of water.
