The first week of the Rock Band Wars finally arrives. The Beach Bears make the trip to Nashville.
So much had to be decided before I began this chapter. I had been planning out the entire arc for a while, and I needed to decide what song to end it with. It came down to two songs, "Alberta Bound" and "Country Roads". Since I could not find a backing track for "Alberta Bound" I had to go with "Country Roads". This meant that they had to live in West Virginia. I could not bring myself to have them fly out to Los Angeles or New York week after week, or stay there for the duration, I decided to have them try a divided venue idea. New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago made sense. I needed some place close to West Virginia that could also act as a hub for the Southeast. Orlando was too far, so I went with Nashville, which is a HUGE recording center, what with the Grand Ole Opry there, which was already set up for television. So, I needed a city in West Virginia that was as close to Nashville as possible, and Huntington was the obvious choice, at only 5 1/2 hours of driving, something that could easily be done. This, BTW, is an important point to writers--let the story determine the location, setting, etc. rather than determining those beforehand. You could find yourself altering your story in ways that you don't want otherwise. This also was when I began to use Google Maps a lot to get as much accuracy as I could in the story.

I love this chapter, but there's something interesting about Paperback Writer and the assuming unintentional foreshadowing that is in future chapters: That a character who was a singer becomes a writer with thanks due to certain circumstances in their life, this becoming unintentionally the Paperback Writer. I just find that very interesting.
