Jumping spiders have incredible vision for hunting, which requires a more powerful brain than other spiders. Unlike most creatures, jumping spiders have general-purpose neurons which allows them to have the intelligence of many small rodents.
Their eyesight is good enough to be able to see and track you and your motions, and their brains are good enough to determine whether or not you're friendly.
They may not be social animals, but with any creature that tilts their head when they're curious, you know there's at least something going on in there.
