One of the ones who absolutely loathes anything after Gen 1/2 just because it's not Gen 1/2

Thing is about gen 1, is looking back on them they're all pretty bad minus a few of em,

Grimer is a pile of sludge, muk is just a bigger pile
Voltorb is a pokeball, Electrode is just a flipped bigger version
Magnimite is a tiny magnet, Magniton is 3 magnimites glued together
Diglett is a thumb with a big goofy nose, Dugtrio is 3 digletts glued together.
Dodrio is a two headed ostritch, Dotrio or whatever it's name was just has a extra head.
Electabuzz, Magmar, Jynx speak for themselves

the list goes on, gen 1 was kinda not very creative at all and it gets kind of obnoxious when people treat it as the mountain of perfection

well ALSO try to keep in mind, that in the long run, Nintendo is a business. and a businesses main goal is profitability.
Its very true they could have easily let the show fizzle out and end, but why would they do that when the paraphernalia brought them such monetary success?
it's a cash cow!
they continue to re-invent pokemon, to reexpose younger children to it. that way, as their target audience ages, there will always be MORE young children who grow into it.
who scream and cry for cards, toys, backpacks...etc...it all translates into money.

but you've got to realize something. all the pokemon are based upon stuff irl ya know????

Amen to that. Gen I was good, gen II was good. Gen III was pretty good (Mightyena, woo!), and gen IV was kinda alright.. Gen V, though...just....ugh.

Have you played it? In my opinion it's actually the best in the series thus far. It reinvents pokemon in a way that makes me feel like a kid playing through red/blue, except old enough to appreciate it and the aged up characters/story

See, I'm not judging the game. I'm judging the pokemon IN the game. To me, they seem uncreative and bland, and don't even feel like pokemon the way the others did.

if you showed like 10 random pokemon out of this set, and 10 random pokemon from all the other generations; and you asked someone who had never played pokemon "which ones look better -" you think they'd really be able to tell the difference?

they look about the same to me! i'm surprised people are finding such a difference in this new generation

The only gen 5 pokemon I absolutely loathe is timburr, but there's a jynx in every generation xD

my least favorite is liepard, i guess - but i think even if you assume timburr and liepard are the worst pokemon of this generation, imho they're better than the worst pokemon of previous generations (jynx, nosepass, luvdisc)

i think they did a good job on this set! if anybody else ever came to me and was like, "draw 520 unique and cool characters" i'd hate them forever!! but if after that, they asked me, "draw 150 more!!!" i know i'd do a shitty job on them. wow! it would get awful i think ken is doing an amazing job considering the circumstances, i'm rooting for him!

Why couldn't nintendo pick you as their artist for this round of pokemon? I'd like them much more if they had these cute poses and soft looks instead of the pixel art they have this time... You're even able to make the pokemon I liked least look appealing.

If only i had the skills, I'd gladly ask for your artwork and port it into BW instead of the current artwork!

I remember being sceptic about the 5th generation Pokémon at first, but by now I love them. Obviously, not every single one, but that's been the case since gen 1.
People go on about how Pokémon used to be so much better when they were young every time they released a new generation - whatever. XD

I will put my comment on here and will not argue it. It's my opinion.

Going to Gen 5 was a joke. They should've stopped long ago at 3. The pokemon themselves can't really be bad, just cheap as hell (Arceus) Gen 5 is just Nintendo milking the pokemon cash cow dry, and then milking it more.

Then, I played it. Same basic plot, but I'm a die-hard fan. The game is very addicting, and the new additions were pretty cool. As for the "horrible" new pokemon, they aren't that bad, guys. Nintendo is running out of ideas, so this is what you get. I think it's pretty cool that they only made new ones instead of playing off the old ones. Also, some of the version exclusive stuff is cool too. The season thing was a little dumb in my opinion, but whatever. Overall, the game is NOWHERE near their best, but it's not the worst they've done.

It's not Nintendo who is to blame, since Nintendo merely produces the games; not the main characters, Pokemon designs, plotlines, or art in general. But I think, if anything, Satoshi and Ken should take ideas from their fans. I have seen waaaaay better designs going around the net as Fakemon then I ever see in the games. BUT that's not to say that the new Pokemon are still all that bad. I've seen significant improvements in the designs of the Gen 5 Pokemon that Gen 4 could've used, or even Gen 3. But yes, the stories are getting rather old. But what else can they do to continue the games and not change them so much that their avid fans cry about it as well? Just a thought. :)
