After what felt like nearly an hour of following fresh footprints and other markings, Sharon finally caught up to the creature she's been tracking and beheld its majestic silhouette... this was no regular deer, but a fully-grown stag with an magnificent rack of antlers atop his head! This was an impressive find for the dragon huntress; if she could bag this creature, not only could the meat keep her campsite fed for at least a week, but her friend could peddle off that pelt and those antlers for a tidy profit! But Sharon could salivate over the spoils later; for now, she had to get close enough to land a shot on that buck and hope it lands.
The crimson-skinned dragoness slowly drew closer, her breath quiet and keeping behind cover when possible so as to not catch her prey's attention. She knew well how jumpy the cervines in these woods can be, and one wrong move would send that creature bolting with minimal odds of Sharon ever catching him again. It was a tense situation, but she managed to make her way behind a tree where she could comfortably take a shot; it was admittedly not as close as she would've liked to get, but it would have to do. She pressed her back against the tree and lowered her wings so as to not make her presence known to the animal. Then, bow in hand, slowly nocked an arrow to prepare her shot... Sharon moved her head, carefully peeking out to see if that wondrous stag was still there. He was, scanning the area for predators, ready to make a run for it if he saw anything that looked like trouble. So far, he seems to be under the illusion that he's safe, but who knows how much longer he'll think such?
All Sharon has to do is be patient, wait for him to let his guard down, and take the shot. If all goes well, she'll have quite the prize to take back to the camp. If not, well... best not think about that right now.
Part of my commission spree from last year, and the final pic to come from that endeavor. They say good things come to those who wait, and that's what certainly happened here! I was able to score a commission with this artist back in mid-2022, though their busy schedule and me not placing my order until later on during the commission period meant I wasn't going to see anything anytime soon, as earlier orders took priority. I would, however, get updates every few months, serving as a reminder that the artist has in fact not forgotten about me, and said updates finally culminated in the pic above!
Sharon's on the hunt for her latest meal, and manages to find something rather impressive! She doesn't enjoy killing animals, but when a girl's gotta eat and there aren't enough berries or mushrooms to go around for everyone, she doesn't have much choice if she doesn't want to starve. The goes double when you have someone back at the campsite who also needs to eat. Can she bag the beast and bring home a good supper, or is Sharon and her friend going to have to settle for less and possibly go hungry tonight? Guess she's going to find out soon enough.
...
All of that said, I hope you all enjoy this pic as much as I did!
