Debts paid in blood.
The neighboring township of Hescks have chosen the difficult path by avoiding paying the Jarl’s fee today. They must have assumed our threats empty of action.
Some 50 men and women of Hescks met us in the valley outside the township. Unrested, under prepared and shaken before an axe or spear was raised. They were not ready to fight this battle.
Alongside my tribesmen, we met them head on. It didn’t take long to find a break in their defensive line. Once their front fell, the battle was over and the slaughter had begun.
The enemy dead or routed, I rested a moment.
