T. Matt Latrans brings the news from the FBA leading up to 2010's Howlereen, the league's opening pre-season game, held every year in Montana.
SPECIAL NOTES: This is a bit of an unfinished work. I've never written the second half of this episode, which would have covered the actual Howlereen match. This is just the first half, which covers all the post-draft news around the FBA. Unfortunately, at this point, I don't see the second half of this episode being made.
But fortunately, this episode rocks.
Originally, I had written this script just for FurFright 2010, which is hands down one of the best furry cons I've ever attended. Not only was the con fantastic, but the attendees to my Voice Acting Workshop panel were incredible. The panel was a ton of fun to hold, but even more, I could not believe how incredibly talented everyone who stepped up to the microphone was. The depth and range of the voices and performances was just jaw-dropping.
I hadn't intended to go to Midwest Fur Fest which was just 3 weeks later, but my friends convinced me to attend. Not sure if it was too late or not, I asked to hold my Voice Acting Workshop panel there as well, and to my surprise, got a room. But since there was so little time between the cons, I wasn't able to write a new script-- so I reused my FurFright script.
While the crowd I got at MWFF was much smaller and the panel did not go as smoothly as I had hoped, once more, I was amazed by the talent I found. And the good news was, by using the same script at two cons, I got every single role recorded live. That also meant many roles were performed by two different people, forcing me to make a choice in the editing process. And I'll tell you, it wasn't always easy.
There were some outstanding performances I recorded that I wasn't able to include in this episode, and I feel awful about it. I intend to edit and release those performances later, just because the attendees to my panel did such a great job, I have to share their work. If you did attend one of my panels and gave a performance that you don't hear in this episode, I apologize for not being able to include you in this cut-- but I will do my best to get your recording out on my page as soon as I can.
The other amazing thing is that this is the first episode I've ever released where every single voice I recorded in person. And it sounds it. This episode sounds GREAT. Every voice is crystal clear with some beautiful nuances that you just can't capture over Skype. And as some of you who follow me on Twitter know, I've been hard at work building a sound studio for myself-- which is much of the reason why this episode is so late, but I think you'll hear the benefits. I think this is the best episode I've made so far. It's energetic, it's got variety, it's funny, the performances are outstanding, there's just so much GOOD in this.
And it's all because there's so much GOOD in this fandom. Thank you everyone who's helped me put this together. It wouldn't have happened without all of your talents.

Very cool, it was well worth the wait! It's certainly the most ambitious of podcasts you've posted here, and everyone did a really great job!
btw, I voiced Ray Rodin at FF and gave you my name as Max. This was before I had an FA account and wasn't sure how I'd call myself here. If you could change the name up top on the cast list to MaxCarotski that would be swell, thanks!

It turned out really well. The phone distortion worked nicely without muffling up the dialog, and it all fit the entire drama of the show. It's neat to see all the pieces put together into the final show, you put in a ton of effort to make this come alive. Here's to more FBA VO shows!
Yay! It's up!!! <333 This is awesome, Buck. Sounds great. = 3
Thanks for letting me help, this was so much fun from start to end.
Also, something scary happened. I actually started to understand everything that's going on in the podcast... AND I knew most of who they were talking about... o.o Wow...

Oh man, I sounded good. <.< I forgot how pissed off I sounded. You coached me pretty well, as well, I'd like to think. :3 Your workshop was a lot of fun. I hope you come to MFF next year so I can pull off a...well, too soon for a threepeat, so a repeat will have to do for now! X3
Wouldn't fate have it, I've actually been getting into recording now, as well! I think I could partially blame you for this interest, but I've always had a great interest in music and such. What microphone(s) did you say you were using at MwFF again? I'm all into this now! Even taking classes at my college about it now. :3

You did an outstanding job. I'll admit that Howard Schnitthund's line was one that I was on the verge of cutting out just because it was this long chain of sentences talking about pretty technical stuff, and I figured it would just bore the listener. But when I heard your recording, I left it in because you did such a good job animating the words. You really feel all of the motives behind each sentence and keep the line engaging. Just an outstanding job!
And that's awesome to hear you're getting into recording! I think it's a blast! I hope you have as much fun with it as I've had!
I used an Audio-Technica 4040 at the con. That's my standard mic for all my voice recording. It's a very economical mic with a slightly dark sound (bassier), but I coupled it with a Joemeek VC3Q preamp at MwFF, which tends to brighten up the sound. I think it's a perfect pairing together-- I'm always amazed at how good the recordings are from my panels.
