One of the iconic American aircraft of WWII alongside the likes of the Mustang and B-17 (and many, many others), we got the good old P-47. Tough, well-armed, and having saw combat just about everywhere during the war, this versatile fighter-bomber was definitely a force to reckon.
This particular aircraft was originally known as "Tarheel Hal", and is the only surviving Thunderbolt produced in Evansville. It's in very good condition, and in fact is still flight capable I believe, since the Evansville museum sometimes holds special events where you get to watch some of these relics fly. Overall an awesome exhibit to see.
