I think it's time you all finally meet the rest of Thieu’s crew, starting with the “Party face”, so to speak.
Amin, much like Thieu, typically wears a robot body covered in a thin organic layer and with biologically-inspired parts just below. This is to seem less intimidating and more approachable as well as just for cosmetic reasons. Unlike Thieu however, Amin adheres closely to what her natural body once looked like because she is proud of her origins and finds it useful to be recognised for her species of origin for the very positive reputation they have obtained through their naturally docile and communicative nature.Nymeer species lore dump:The Nymeer hail from an area of space that became known as the “Life bubble”. Within this volume of space, a panspermia event led to a primitive life form being spread to every single potentially habitable planet. Additionally, this common ancestor has proven itself very prone to somehow spawning intelligent life. This resulted in multiple intelligent alien species all appearing within ridiculously close proximity of one another, given the size of the galaxy and rarity of intelligent life. As soon as these species gained the ability to detect one another, they raced to develop spaceflight. By the time the spiders and humanity found them, they were in the opening stages of a multispecies war of annihilation.
The Nymeer homeworld is less massive than earth, meaning gravity was weaker, and did not suffer an oxygenation extinction event as bad as earth, which resulted in a much greater biodiversity and abundance of oxygen-creating life. In turn, this allowed exoskeletal life to maintain larger sizes, preventing endoskeletal life from attaining the dominance over gigantism it did on earth.
The Nymeer were instead the “Final” form of gigantism on their planet. Their exoskeletons are sort of ingrown l, having looped into the imbody in certain places to create exra structural fortitude and carrying capacity, and an actively pumped respiratory system allowing them to force oxygen much deeper into their bodies than IRL athropods. They filled an ecological niche close to elephants on earth: that of large intelligent social herbivores that become almost immune to predation through a combination of gigantism and intelligent collaboration.
Finally: This first artwork of Amin was made by
VoxTheOwl, who I'm very thankful for both the art, and in making the art, also pushing me to finally get some more of my lore out of my brain and into a more solid medium.
