I don't have a good name for this story (part three)
(Content warning: fight scenes, a supernatural entity, mentions of cruelty/predation/bloodshed.)
Later that night Todd was stewing on what his brother Alex had done to Anya, causing his break up with the girl he loved so much.
Along with ruining his reputation and good name in town after kidnapping those poor bunny girls.
He wanted revenge on that wicked dog. But he knew it would be stupid to go looking for him at night, not only because of the monster skulking around at night but also because of the fact Todd only had one real eye.
He was going to track his brother down and, at bare-minimum beat the living daylights out of him.
Assuming he could find Alex in the first place. The next day he began his search, heading out before his Doberman roommate woke up.
Leaving her a note on his nightstand as to his whereabouts should he be unable to return. He knew the general area where Alex would be due to the fact that he and his siblings were all microchipped as puppies.
Figuring he didn't have much to lose either way, he travelled to an abandoned building in the next town over, unsure of exactly what he was walking into. Armed with only his mind and a pair of brass knuckles, he got in the unlocked building seeing nothing at first.
The sound of footprints could be heard in the dark corners of the place, some were heavy, however some were light like his own.
Todd: "Show yourself Alex! I've got a score to settle with you, and I intend on doing it now!" The small dog barked out, clearly done with his brother's wicked behavior.
When from out of the shadows came his twin's voice: "Well well, I see the timid lap-dog has come to bare his teeth." He chuckled. "What business do you have, brother dear?"
He said in a mocking tone. "By the way, how's Anya been treating you lately? No wait, you were going with that hippo shaped tub of lard Kichaa."
Todd: "Shut your mouth! Don't you dare taint their good names by letting them slip past your filthy lips. I'm putting an end to this Alex, you and me. All you've done to ruin me, and even tried to use my own girlfriend as a murder weapon. Show your face and let's get this over with."
Alex: "Awfully brave coming here, brother dear. Of course you know I don't dirty my hands with a fight. Get him boys."
As a trio of wolves came rushing at Todd from different directions, full speed from the shadows. But the little dog was ready, pulling back to punch the first one that got near him. An audible crack could be heard from the lead wolf's knee from the impact of the brass knuckles. The second wolf grabbed Todd from behind and put him in a headlock, picking him up off the ground. As the third one punched him hard in the gut, knocking the wind out of him.
Alex: "Really thought you'd make any headway brother?" He chuckled. "Now what to do with you? Too scarred up to sell your pelt, not much call for dog meat on the black market either." He looked to the wolf keeping his brother still. "Marco, what do you think we should do with him? We can't very well let him go, he knows where we operate. I suppose we could throw him into the furnace, I'm curious if that fake eye will burst from the heat."
Marco: "Hehe, we could tie him up and leave him for that thing in the woods back in Bakersville. A Winnebago right?"
Alex: "That's a Wendigo you idiot, not a Winnebago. But I like the idea, stick him Emily." He said to a fourth wolf holding a syringe of anesthetics to make Todd more agreeable.
Todd: "Alex Gaylord Smith, may you know no peace until your dying breath!" As the drugs then knocked him flat in Marco's arms.
Alex: "My word, he was always such a loud mouth." Marco: "Hehe, Did he say your middle name was-"
Alex pulled out a knife before saying: "Finish that sentence and I'll be selling your pelt tomorrow."
Marco: "Yes sir." Todd was then bound in strong rope, and gagged with an apple in his mouth and left tied to a tree deep in the Bakersville woods.
After about three hours Todd woke up, he was unable to free himself and due to the way the apple was wedged into his mouth he couldn't yell out. With as deep as he was in the woods it wasn't like anyone would've heard him anyway. He did notice something unusual when it got dark: The woods were entirely silent. Not a bird, nor cricket, not even the squeak of a bat could be heard.
After about 10 minutes of eerie silence he heard heavy footsteps falling from cloven hooves. They were coming slowly towards him, not quite in view of the moonlit clearing yet. He was panicking now, he knew he didn't have long.
He started praying silently, but there was no sign of relief nor divine intervention. She was there within a hundred yards. Then in two steps she was right in front of him. Her tall, gaunt, near-skeletal figure her face looking like the skull of a buck deer, her eye sockets having a light blue glow in them where the eyes should be. The smell of death and decay permeating the air.
She leaned down and breathed into his face, her icy, putrid breath chilling him to the bone. She then said to him: "You know what I am boy?" Todd: "Mhhmh!!" She said: "I'm the thing your parents warned you about, the monster of the woods. And do you know what I'm about to do?"
Todd: "Eeee eee???!!?" She ran her sharp claw down his chest and said: "That's right, I'm going to.... eat you." As she reared back to lunge her teeth into the little dog, the shot of a rifle rang out in the silent forest. Causing the monster to hit the ground in pain, not doing enough to kill her but enough to get her away from Todd.
He looked to his right and there they stood none other than his friend and roommate Darlene and his dad's friend Ivan.
Darlene: "I got your note kleiner mann, we can talk later." As she rushed to untie him, while the monster was trying to get her bearings. Ivan: "Oh no you don't you demonic doe!" As he fired a few more shots to try and buy the two dogs some time. Sadly running out of ammo in the process.
Ivan: "Todd, Darlene, RUN! I'll keep this thing busy. Drive away and don't look back!" He said cracking his knuckles as the monster stood to her feet. The doggy duo ran back to Ivan's truck, not out of fear but rather for survival and because Ivan wasn't the type to be argued with.
The monster broke the silence of the snowy night: "How dare you interrupt my meal you ursine oaf!" She hissed.
Ivan: "You won't be hurting the people of Bakersville while I'm around you overgrown roadkill." She cackled before mimicking the voice of Ivan's late wife, a former meal of hers: "Oh really now Ivan, you think you can handle me? I guess you'll be more appetizing than that stupid mutt was." Ivan: "How dare you copy my Natasha you проклятая мерзость!" He said filled with a primal rage from hearing that mockery of his darling bride.
She taunted him again, still using Natasha's voice: "If it makes you feel any better Ivan, I was delicious!" Hearing that, he couldn't take it anymore and ripped his shirt off before lunging at the beast. Being driven by instinct to kill this monster that has plagued the peaceful town off-and-on for nearly two centuries.
But the monster was quick, her movements fluid and unpredictable as she dodged Ivan's attack and countered with a swift slash of her sharp claws to his side. The pain nearly causing him to fall over, but he knew it would be certain death if he did. He got back to his feet and balled up his fist and struck her in the stomach.
She recoiled before striking back, her razor-sharp claws slashing at the bear's face and chest, drawing blood with each strike.
But Ivan rose to full height and was truly relentless, his powerful paws swiping at the wendigo with incredible force. An audible crack from every impact.
The two circled each other, their movements a deadly dance as they exchanged blows and tried to find weaknesses in their opponent's defense.
But as the fight continued, it became clear that the wendigo had the upper hand. Her supernatural abilities and agility gave her an advantage over the bear, and she seemed to be wearing Ivan down with each passing minute. Fortunately his mind was strong enough to not fall for her mental tricks. Though his age and mortal restraints started showing against the supernatural strength and speed of his adversary. How much could flesh and blood do against a supernatural entity?
Sensing her victory, the wendigo let out a blood-curdling scream and launched a final attack. Ivan, knowing he had his beloved daughters and so many people counting on him he managed to strike the monster mid-air, grabbing her by the antlers and throwing her into a rocky wall with a loud thud and the sound of cracking bones.
With an unholy roar, she stood up and charged towards the bear once again. With a powerful swipe of his paw, Ivan delivered what to any other creature would be more than a fatal blow. After that, he began limping home.
After she was all alone, the monster's body started twitching as she pulled herself back together and followed the trail to a good meal....
