Pokemon TF Drive Page 8: Merry Christmas
Told you it was a Christmas story! This is how I wanted to end the year but things got a little... complicated, and not just because I underestimated how hard this would be to draw.
Sereigon , whose donation technically puts the transformation at 25%*, guest cameos again as Tyranitar. Obv10sly on twitter also helped by joining my patreon, but I couldn't think of a way to feature her that would make sense with the story. Sorry!
I had always planned for this to be the panel where the cheek pouches turn red.
I was a really dumb beginner trainer in Pokémon Yellow, really putting a point on that “you need pokémon to protect you” rant the professors always go on at the start of the games. Add on to that Pokémon Yellow’s expressions (which I often interpreted as “told you so” and “I’m so proud of you”) and you get a relationship with Pikachu that was very mother-like, so calling me Sparkey’s brother is not entirely inaccurate …but I draw the line at little!
Pikachu knows exactly how the "curse" works. She knows she's got precious limited time to take advantage of it, and you better believe she will make full use of that time!
Pikachu is, of course, referring to my in-game mom. Although the Gen II mom is definitely a step up, she still couldn't care less if you missed Christmas. IRL mom, on the other hand...
The berries featured are Oran, Leppa, Cheri, Razz, and Persim berries, representing the Gen II Berry, Mystery berry, PRZCure berry, Safari bait, and Bitter berry respectively.
I hesitated a lot on what Azumarill's "pet name" for Pikachu should be (and no, I couldn't just leave it in pokémon speak). "Bumblebee" was the first one that came to mind but then I thought "there's lots of yellow things that actually exist in the pokémon world, why would he go with bumblebee?" Then I looked at the references and realized Pikachu have those stripes along their backs and the answer became obvious.
*The "transformation curve", for this one was a little different than the last one. Whereas the last one started slow and progressively accelerated, here it was supposed to start fast and slowly level out. That was intentional. The pants were never going to fall off in this one (unless we reached really high numbers) because the waist is elastic. I didn't realize that until after I started and looked at the references.

This is the last page of the story. Thank you everybody for coming along for the ride as I made this fever dream from 18 years ago into a reality
