Last weekend me and my mom was doing a little gardening work, and after we were finished, we decided to take a little stroll down the canal. It was still a bit cold and windy, but the sun was out in full force, so it was still rather nice.
And then I spotted something swimming in the canal right next to us.
Now, we have a lot of smaller wildlife around here, having quite a few wildlife preserves around the peninsula (something like 3 or 4). And I actually saw a wild Water Mink eating a fish on top of a rock on the wave breakers one the south beach (living as I am on the narrow middle of a peninsula, I've got both north and south beaches within a 10 minute bike ride from home) once when I was just a kid. But I never saw one again after that.
Imagine my surprise when I understood that this wasn't a bird or a fish swimming in the water, but rather a live mink! I was delighted! And as luck would have it, my mom and my sister got a digital camera for my birthday, and I had it with me in my pocket.
Needless to say, we followed him/her, and I took as many pics as I could while we watched it move along the beach near us, not exactly skittish but still keeping a respectable distance. These are the best quality photos of the lot.
Here you see him/her right after I got the camera up and zoomed-in.
