"Messenger"

I prayed and God answered
I couldn't believe
Hark!
The angel said I'm beautiful
There's nothing I could not achieve
A shining king God sent to me
In armor that did glisten
But lo, behold I wouldn't see
Nor did I stop to listen
My eyes were fixed on soft white wings
On feathers soft and fair
And when the king he kissed my hand
I simply did not care
Where hath he gone, your majesty
I asked the handsome king
"The angel, dear?" He questioned me
And offered me a ring
I don't want you
Nor any man
So deep in her despair
A stalwart hero came for her
And yet
She didn't care
For she had fallen for the one
Who had read the scroll
The angel in silk robe soft spun
His voice it took a toll
God sent her a soldier
God sent her a king
A priest and a knight
So many fine things
God told her He loved her
She said love you too
But she couldn't forget
The angel she knew
Lost child God said kindly
Why can't you see the way
Oh I can
She said apologetically
TY Lord
But I just can't stay
Tis a crisis of faith
So maybe I'll pray
If I cannot keep the angel Lord
I'd rather be alone
Ty for these awesome men
Solitude to roam
But I cannot shake the angel
His voice went through my soul
You sent him down to heal me
And now I am not whole
God sent her a glorious king
Oh but how she didn't care
Forgive her Lord
She fell on her sword
She didn't mean to dare
God sent her a hero to love
But it didn't matter to her
She doesn't care how strong they are
Cause she's in love with the messenger
Yes she's in love with the messenger
