Gonna throw out some unconventional guesses.
Collar could be any domestic pet.
Carrot is attributed to Lagomorphs for the bugs bunny imagery, but my money is on beasts of burden, maybe even a reindeer like Sven.
Gem could mean dragon related, but diamond dogs, echidna/hedgehog, and even dwarves could fit the bill. Maybe even a crystalline creature like a Petrosapian/Crystalsapian(Ben 10), golem, or crystal pony. There's no guarantee...
