The Denial
- I pray for world peace.
It was customary to give a lock of hair in this chapel, where the Followers of Cernunnos refused any other form of gift. Even Tsuki knew this.
This chapel was very popular, as it was more humble than the great cathedrals of Bordelune. Closer to the believers, it seemed haloed by the divine presence of the One with Silver Antlers.
As a lock of her blonde hair settled on the altar of the divinity, Noisette frowned.
- Maybe I'm quite impatient, but nothing changed. Let me try again.
- Dear, you shouldn--
- Tsuki, I haven't asked your opinion here. Don't belittle my faith. Now keep quiet if you consider yourself my friend.
Another lock of hair. And another. The small doe kept on cutting her beautiful curly hair, letting it to drop on the floor
- World.
She began to cry, clenching her teeth.
- Peace.
Nothing happened. As she expected. But she was stubborn. And so did she continue to cut her locks
- I. Pray... to end the discrimination against all those girls thrown out into the street.
I pray. For the orphans to have a family.
I pray. For the equality of all living beings.
As if gold was falling, the doe continued to ravage her hair, ignoring the complains of her friend Tsuki.
- I pray, for our only god to lead us out of the tyranny of the antlerocracy.
I pray, for my...
She then systematically cut every lock of hair that was in her range. Frantically. She couldn't help but hiccup with anger tinged with frustration.
She continued when she found a brief moment of cold calm
- Dad. I pray for my dad to tell me this is nothing but a nightmare.
I pr... pray. That this is just a test. That he hasn't abandonned me.
That God hasn't abandonned us.
She then turned to the statue of Cernunnos and threw her hair at the idol
- Where are you? WHERE ARE YOU?! We're all suffering, and you do NOTHING. Is that your goddamn divine will to let that situation to rot that way? Do all the deaths of my sisters entertain you?! You told me I was the Daughter of the Two Horizons! Was it just a dream of mine?! And the only thing I now see is a death omen for my kind. Give. Us. A. Sign. GIVE US A SIGN!!
She clenched her fists and turned back to her friend, controlling her breathing as best she could.
She was filled with cold determination.
- There's no god. There never has been. Only us. Doomed. We have no power to change that situation ever. Stuck on that deadly trap of a planet baked by cosmic radiations, lead by arrogant men with antlers to a future war that will kill us for a cause that isn't ours.
She put the scissors close to the candles, along with other locks of hair
- Tsuki, I'm leaving to another altar. Don't follow me.
- But... the storm.
- I'm asking you as a friend. Don't. Stop. Me.
- As a friend I have to...
- Well then, I disown you...
Tsuki had hard times to swallow her tears, and as she reached for her friend's hand she finally asked
- I just... can't let you go.
- Have faith. I survived the streets. That's not a storm that will scare me.
Noisette then left the silver vixen there, at that chapelle. Radiations thunders were still rumbling in the far, and she watched as her only friend walked to her destiny.
Alone.

So many thoughts here. And while she had spoken most of my own thoughts, I still have many more (I will not share them here though). Let me just say that you hit the nail on the head and drove it home.
