After the doggy duo had decided to move in together, Darlene needed to go get her stuff from Todd's house. She didn't have a lot, as she was a woman with simple tastes. But she did want to grab her belongings.
Stephanie: "Want me to just send someone to get your stuff babe?" The shorter husky said holding her darling Doberman.
Darlene: "Nein, I can go get them. It's no more then three boxes worth. Do you want to come with me?"
Stephanie: "Of course I do! You know I love going anywhere with you babe."
At her soon to be former residence, Todd was busy cleaning. He wanted it to be spick and span for Darlene's return.
He knew she liked a tidy home, and she was pretty much the only thing keeping him sane at this point so he wanted to keep her happy. No one knew that however, as he generally kept his problems buried down inside.
Stephanie called her little brother and said: "Hey little dude, we're coming over to get Darlene's stuff. You got any boxes?"
He nearly spat out his orange juice from the surprise. Todd: "What? Steph what are you talking about?"
Stephanie: "I asked Darlene to move in with me and she sai-" Darlene: And I said yes!" The young women said with great excitement in they're voices.
Meanwhile the little corgi's heart sank in his chest, he wanted Darlene to be happy, and his sister seemed ecstatic. He faked a happy tone in his voice, trying to not to show his sadness over the phone.
Todd: "Yeah! T-that's great, I uh I think I have a couple boxes in the garage."
Stephanie: "That is perfect! We'll be there in like five-ish minutes."
After hanging up, Todd tried calming himself as to not look like a basket-case when Darlene and Stephanie got here.
Todd: "Okay Todd, you knew this was likely going to happen at some point. Don't make yourself look like an idiot, admittedly a hard task but we can't go all soft and weak now. Stay strong, stay strong." As he twiddled his thumbs.
Right on time the girls made it to his front door, ready to move Darlene's stuff. The living room looking clean enough to eat off of the floor, mainly from Todd's panic cleaning.
Darlene: "Hey kleiner mann! Sorry for the short notice, your big sis is pretty persuasive." She said pulling her hot little husky in for a hug.
Todd: "Yeah, that she can. Would you like me to help you pack, or do you and Steph want to pack up?"
The girls looked at each other and nodded in agreement that they could handle it.
Stephanie: "We got it little bro, don't you worry your fuzzy little head." After half-an-hour or so, Darlene was all packed up and ready to go.
Todd: "Before you two go, may I have a word with you Darlene?" The elegant, yet strong Doberman nodded and started towards him, Stephanie following behind her.
Todd: "I meant alone, if you don't mind Stephanie. Just something I'd like to say in private."
Stephanie was a bit confused, but knew her brother was harmless so she waited in the living room as Todd lead his former roommate back to his bedroom.
Darlene: "What's up? You look a little off kleiner mann."
Todd: "Don't worry, it's no big deal. I just wanted to let you know: That if things don't work out with you and Steph living together, you are always welcome to move back in here. That said, I wish you two the absolute best."
Darlene: "Okay kleiner mann, I'll keep that in mind." As she patted his head and started to walk off.
Todd: "Wait one moment, I have something I'd like to give you. Just a little present." He then handed her a small box containing a bottle of her favorite perfume, and a solid gold charm for her collar.
Darlene: "Todd, thank you so much! But you shouldn't spend your money on me. You are too kind kleiner mann."
She gave him a tender hug, before leaving holding hands with Stephanie. The husky waving bye to her little corgi brother.
After getting back to Stephanie's home, she decided to ask Darlene what Todd had told her. Not wanting to divulge the first half, she simply showed the gift she had been given. It would take some getting used to, but the canine couple knew that they would probably do very well together.
And as for Todd, he would have to get used to the silence of an empty house that he couldn't very well call a home anymore.
