April is Autism Acceptance Month! It is a time to recommit ourselves, as a society, to ensure that individuals with ASD have ample opportunities and appropriate services and supports to help them reach their full potential.
You can support those on the spectrum by learning more about autism and gaining a better understanding as well as having compassion for the difficulties they face daily.
I do personally headcanon Basil (and all of the versions of Sherlock Holmes) as being on the spectrum. He has many "quirks" and habits as well as a social awkwardness that many people who are autistic can relate to.
It's always nice to have a character to relate to.
