A Nomarch (heri-tep in Ancient Egyptian) is the local leader of a nome (Sepat in Ancient Egyptian). Egypt was devided into 42 of these nomes and each Nomarch served directly the Pharaoh. The Pharaoh himself also was the Nomarch of the Pharaonic Capital City and the nome it belonged to. As the al-Khemi family used to be just the Nomarch family of Zawty and later rose to become the new Pharaonic family, Eren carries the title of Nomarch of Zawty to honor their heritage.
