Another drawing featuring one of my characters wearing something I typically wouldn't draw them in, this doodle was actually done as a special request for my friend World3nder who, for a very long time now, has been wanting me to draw up a swimsuit design for Melee - in particular, he really wanted me to draw him wearing a one-piece design. While I was definitely not against the idea, it was a low priority for me since I had/have other bigger projects that took priority. However, with that Sharon doodle I completed a month prior and how much fun I had with it, I saw an opportunity to finally fulfill my friend's request.

And... here it is! I'm hoping he'll be pleased with what I conjured up, as it's pretty much the design I first imagined when the subject matter originally came up between us so long ago. The hardest part was trying to draw up that striped design on the midriff and inner tube; it's inspired by some of the banners you used to see on XBox 360 game cases late in the console's lifespan, albeit purple instead of green. Care was also taken to ensure his figure wasn't too... feminine. Yes, I too love the hourglass figure and I absolutely don't mind seeing him drawn like that, but I personally wanted to be realistic about things here, and biological men aren't exactly known for having childbearing hips (sadly).

While I had a lot of fun drawing Sharon's pic, this one was... less fun. I think the main reason for this was that I started to get more focused on getting details right here over simply just trying to make a quick drawing; it became less about enjoying myself and more about making sure it looked good. From trying to get the pose correct, to adding extra stuff to make sure everything worked, it became harder and harder to get excited about working on this picture. And the worst part of it all? Even despite all my work, I still got mixed feelings about the final drawing! I dunno, I just feel like there's a lot of anatomical flaws and the proportions don't line up as much as I'd like... yes, I know these doodles aren't meant to be masterpieces or anything but still...

Maybe it's just my imagination, though, from looking at this thing for too long?

Regardless, the request is fulfilled and my friend finally got what he wanted from me! Plus, having a new outfit drawn up brings with it new ideas that I can commission artists with, if I so desire! But time will tell if that will go anywhere. Until then, hopefully both my friend and you (the viewer) like the design I made!
