Is it just me, or is he stating to sound ever so slightly discouraged by his lack of effect on Ms. Oracle there?
Comparing sex to... you know... war... doesn't come off so much as 'Boy, this sure is fun!' as much as it does 'Guess I'd better get back to work...' and that 'Might as well...' at the end sounded more resigned than eager.

Not so much 'resigned' as 'aware of the risks'. Sex is definitely something he enjoys, but it's been clearly shown that *repeated* humpings in a short span of time can be... uncomfortable for him. So he's learned (at leaast instinctively) that prolonged sex, for him, carries certain risks.
