Nico and Dominika by Budsies once again.
They've spent far too long in the house, playing Minecraft and watching YouTube and gekkering at each other and whatever else they get up to when I'm at work, so I decided to take them with me for one of my walks this evening in hopes I could get a good picture of them... Unfortunately, the bugs had other plans so I had to rush this one a bit, and these two are nowhere near as portable as little Phoenix!
I'm hoping to get a better photo of them outside sometime, and when life and moods permit, maybe take them other places and/or get some more interesting "artistic" shots as well.

Admittedly, part of the reason I decided I needed more pics of them is because I feel like I owe Budsie Dominika and the artist that worked on her an apology--last week when she arrived, I typed up a review in the description of my Dominika is Here that might have come across a bit on the harsh side, and I'm ashamed that even for a second I so much as mentioned sending Dominika away (which was never my intention, of course, but I did look into the return policy out of curiosity).
She is loved and accepted, and got plenty of cuddles when she arrived (within an hour of being unboxed, she joined me for a Depression Nap), and takes turns with Nico as the Cuddling Plush.
Shortly after I posted that, I did figure out what the artist likely intended for her hair, as can be seen in this photo--it's loose and free so it can drape over her shoulders and be a bit wavy! I still think putting a small stitch to hold her hair to the back of her head so it doesn't flop around like a cape was the right decision, but now I better understand what the artist had in mind for it.
Anyways, I feel like I need to update/retroactively change my review score of her from 4 🦊 fox emojis out of 5, to 4.3 🦊 out of 5--the main cons being that she's a few inches shorter than expected, some minor quality issues (the stitching on her right shoulder is a bit crooked, but still solid, and the loose nature of her collar and wristbands, and the wild and detached nature of her hair), and how she was shipped (a couple weeks later than I expected/hoped/was estimated, stuffed into smaller box, and her lil refsheet was crumpled).
However, I really like the shape and detailing on her face, her lil paw pads, the hearts on her collar (the artist took the liberty of changing the generic circular studs in her collar out for hearts, which is a touch I really like and want to incorporate into her canon design moving forward), the flower in her hair, her coloration is very on-model despite the limited palette available, and her expression is the exact "friendly but dopey" Dominika we've come to know and love.
It's been interesting to compare and contrast her with Nico, how I still prefer his nose to hers but prefer how her paws were done to his, or how I prefer her head shape overall but like how Nico's face (despite being more triangular) has that fluffiness to the cheeks, or how I like Nico's body shape giving him that "pear" shape and a big ol' booty while Dominika isn't as pear-shaped (and lacks the dumpy) but still seems a bit more "on model", for example.
Nico bears a strong resemblance, at least in terms of his torso and arms, to my roommate's Budsie plush from a few years back, which I guess sorta led me to believe they made a bit more use of templates for some aspects of the designs than they do. As a result, I guess I expected Dominika to come out looking very similar to Nico.
Overall they look very similar yet very different from each other and that will make telling them apart by touch if and when I can't see them very well a lot easier. The size difference between the plushes does make me think, if and when I actually draw them again, I need to make Dominika an inch or two shorter than Nico, just so her referring to him as her little brother can piss him off *even more*. Canonically, she's only three minutes older than Nico but never lets him forget that she's his big sister.
The type and level of stuffing Budsies uses is just perfect, these plushes are firm yet soft, solid to hug while not being weirdly rigid, and I really like the short, sorta velvety plush fabric they use, and I actually really like holding their lil hands for some reason. Also, not to be creepy and just as an objective statement of quality... her boobs are well done. Nice size, and stuffed a bit softer than the rest of her, I appreciate that the artist that worked on her didn't shy away from that detail.
On their tags, it says "Your Budsie is individually made with tender, loving care. It celebrates your unique creativity, and we hope it becomes your friend for life", and I can definitely say from the moment of unboxing, both Nico and Dominika definitely did.
