And so our comic ends with Rick having possibly made a friend? At the very least, he's gotten some information about the avian his brother was investigating at the start of the comic! I wonder how that will go...


This marks the end of 'Part 1' of the comic's story :) Part 2 most definitely won't be happening for awhile, as I have other projects that I need to work on, but I do hope that folks have enjoyed the story so far and have gotten to learn a bit about Rick!

This was a great experience, getting to make a full comic story about one of my central characters and sharing a glimpse of the world that I want to build. Ironically, I think that my original scope for this might have been a little too ambitious, and I will probably try to make shorter and more self-contained stories in the future, but I'm still glad that I swung a little harder than usual. In the future, I want to try some different ideas with color and shading to see if I can improve my process, as a page a month feels way too slow if I want to do anything more ambitious. I feel like maybe I was getting a bit better at it by the end, especially when I went fully digital with the drawing and inking rather than doing 50/50 with physical and digital art. Not having to measure each panel by hand and readjust everything after scanning was a very nice time-saver. Still, I did really enjoy inking things by hand when I took the opportunity. I also wonder if it might be worth it to work with somebody else on coloring to further speed up the process, but that's a question for another day.
