A belated celebration to not just one, but two important kings whose special days are on this month! Now first off, here we have one king who needs no introduction, he was given his special day in August 4 by the furry community as a reference to the game Super Mario Bros. in which upon reaching World 8-4, you face the real Bowser as the other seven were just clones, further emphasised by the Toads telling you the infamous line "But the Princess is in another castle!" While this has been a fanmade holiday and not completely endorsed by Nintendo, I believe it's high time that it should, but it should be more than that, it should be officially Bowser's birthday for two a couple of reasons, one is the Super Mario Bros reference, and two, it would make him a Leo, which, if anyone who is familiar with the Zodiac would know, would be very fitting to his personality, his element since Leo is a fire sign, and most of all, the fact that Bowser is a king, and what better sign for a king than a sign represented as the one and only king of the beasts? And speaking of which...
Next and lastly, we move on to the next king, who unlike Bowser who is more or less cold and ruthless, this one is noble and kind. For the curious, there is a book known as the Disneystrology, which lists out a long list of Disney characters who represent each day of the twelve months. August 18 happens to be the day represented by Simba from The Lion King, which is surprisingly fitting considering the fact that he is a lion and that the Leo sign spans between the days of July 24 up until August 23, so Simba is a Leo which fits in so many ways.
So there you have it, the stories behind August 4 Bowser Day and August 18 Simba Day. Because I missed out drawing Bowser for Bowser Day and even Simba for Simba Day, I considered doing both of them in one picture, looking all badass, with the burning flames of passion that lights the fiery essence of Leo within them, the fire red background to go along with their red manes, and there's the crown to show their regal status. Oh yes, and both are my favourite characters of all time, and their special days are exactly 2 weeks apart! Long live the kings!
Happy belated Bowser and Simba Day!
