This is interesting.
Our protagonist, who had time to think and process everything, realized several things, such as that he was once a human being. I'm fascinated that as soon as he entered the game, his "avatar" as well as his mind were "reprogrammed" to mentalize him and integrate him into the game world as a female Gardevoir. That's why he can't remember his human appearance or specific details because the game tried to eliminate them from his mind so that he becomes the Pokémon he is now, completely. The good thing is that Gardevoir have powerful minds and our protagonist is already rebuilding his previous identity, very slowly, but surely he will achieve it with time. (Most likely if the same thing happened to another Pokémon and they were a dragon or fighting type, their new reprogrammed identity would have completely consumed them, living as normal Pokémon and unable to remember that they were humans. Our protagonist is very lucky)
I also love that among her goals she has in mind to return to her world, but she loves being a Gardevoir so much that she thinks more about the future and plans an option to go and come back at will. And it is clear that she is fascinated by her new self, she is so comfortable, full of vitality, confidence and she loves her femininity so much that she does not want to say goodbye to them, at least not in the short term. If she knew that what she feels is satisfaction for living her dream of being in the Pokémon world.
Another thing, since her mind has been reprogrammed to think and see herself as a female Gardevoir, she cannot remember that she was a human man before. That makes the process of integration and adaptation to her new life much easier, as well as avoiding the short-term internal conflict about her subsequent gender dysphoria, but I suppose that when she remembers that she would have lived so much as a female Gardevoir that she would see her old identity as a part of herself and embrace it, but not without denying her current self.
ps: as for the reprogramming, I expected that in her new set of memories as a Gardevoir she would remember when she was born from an egg, lived her entire childhood as a Ratz and won battles and had enough experiences to evolve into Gardevoir. That a complete life in the Pokémon world would have been implanted in her head and this would bury her human memories. Let's say that it would be the complete "mask" and our protagonist would have to dig deeper into her mind to realize that something is wrong with her memories.

I hope they do, I'm not the biggest fan of permanent ID death to be honest. I do like it when they, alongside some friends new and old, help them find out secrets to their past and all. It gives me a warm tingling feeling even if the person turns out to be a heartless monster before. At that point the new version of them usually chooses their new self while accepting their past and keeping up with their old friends, the ones who were nice anyway.
I do love how the Gardevoir was drawn however. The hand gestures and facial expressions are wonderful. :)
