A repeating question, whether serious, or as a joke, would always follow the two. "Who keeps the Keeper?" One bright morning, the cat would present a black parchment, specially penned for the wolf. A contract for his soul, one detailed in such a manner which breaks all conventions. One which gains no power, only a hold, safety, assurance, and a promise of care.
This is no demon. It's another entity entirely, I'm convinced at this point. One of them would not pass up an opportunity to add some loophole, or seek power.
