While drafting out the pyramid and surrounding ruins was relatively simple, figuring out how make the flattened double helix in perspective was fairly tricky - no computers used here.

The background on this picture was also from that failed series - standard policy in all my contracts : if you don't use it the copyright reverts to me. :

imma definately a fan of Ron Cobb's work on the first Alien film - got to see some of the original sets/props by him and Gieger at the premiere of 'Alien' in the courtyard of 'The Egyptian Theater' in Hollywood when it debuted - actually got to walk through one of Cobb's corridors from the Nostromo.

Early CGI/trad mix - 'Reboot' era CGI - but they had problems with it. We used basic CGI for the vehicles in 'Bravestarr' and a spin-off 'Parie People' that never made it to release ( L'oreal bought Filmation under false promises that they would continue production - but they only wanted the library for syndication - and promply shut down the only studio still doing animation in the USA.
In the meantime other studios began investing in CGI. The Vancouver B.C. studio i was working for had half a dozen very expensive Silicon Graphics computers ready for such projects. Sadly the company that contracted us blew their budget.
Cool CGI history/time-line :

Isn't it always the way? A large corporation buys out a smaller one with great promises -- then drives it into the ground (seen any American Motors cars, lately?). I saw this happen with Hubley/Gabriel model cars when Quaker Oats bout them out. I've experienced as bad and worse in the workplace when employers were bought out by competitors.
