Gavin! A character I've had living in my head rent free since 6th grade!
Some of this may be subject to change, I never really keep things 100%, always redoing ideas.
Anyway,
At the request of his parents, he was taken in by his two uncles for a few years as a primer for sword training. He now lives at the Knight's Academy of Avondale, where he's finishing up his training. He currently works as a guard, guarding a very boring slab of castle wall. Though Every once in awhile the princess and her private guard pass by above. Just recently though, he's had the unfortunate fortune of becoming Rune'd at the age of 18. He was a late bloomer. (or a late Runer, hahaa.) This may make his new occupation as Castle Wall Guard No.7 a bit more stressful.
Most elves unfortunate enough to be cursed with the power of magic develop runes around the ages of 12-13. It's exceedingly rare, as magic and magicians who wield it have been banned, imprisoned, and cast out of most kingdoms after the the magic war. Most of the remaining few are in hiding, or under close surveillance.
Though this isn't true for ALL kingdoms, and some higher ups are pushing for change.
So now he has to keep his newly acquired magician status under wraps. Literally. Or risk being tossed into the dungeon for treason!! He hasn't even done anything!
Fun Facts:
- Gavin LOVES cooking, Baking, and craft making!
- He can't read. :( But he's practicing!
- He's quite adept with a sword.
- When he gets nervous, sometimes the hair on the tip of his head lights up like a candle!
- He wears a pair of gloves given to him by his uncle. Thankfully they seem fire proof, phew. Must have been for forging since one of his uncle's used to make swords during the Magic War, but now forges tools. Though he can't say the same for his regular clothes and bedding, which he's caught on fire with a sneeze on more than one occasion....
- The sword he and his fellow guards use are standard issue, and were actually forged by his uncles.
- The earing he wears indicates his status! It also works as a communication device to his fellow guards.
- The scarf he wears was actually given to him by the princess when he was younger. :) She's real nice.
- Gavin has a younger sister who he draws and sends pictures too, since he cant read or write. (yet)
