This is Alex before his mind got fractured and his outfit as an Emperor.

In the vast multiverse, the space to fit it all is actually finite. It goes through an automatic cleansing cycle in order to recycle a fraction of it in order to make more space and start new universes.
The matter and souls of each universe are recycle and spread around to let life continue. Alex was one of these many souls when it was his universes turn to end. However, he displayed an unprecedented resistance to being spirited away and having his soul sent back to the primordial soup. It was the Dark Seraph, Selena Maalik's, job to observe this automatic process and make sure it goes through. A very boring job. But she watched as Alex struggled and found it entertaining. But even as the soul never gave up, it was an unwinnable battle as he kept losing ground. Not wanting the show to end, Selena gave the soul a push on a whim.
Alex's soul took this momentum and used it to escape the pull completely. His souls crashed landed on a world but a good chunk of his essence was destroyed and barley able to hold him together.
Thankfully, he met someone who's curiosity saved him. Someone who he would later love dearly as his wife.

Alex would journey through the world and before he knew it, he would begin to build a kingdom of his own. But he made some foolish mistakes that would banish him and his kingdom from that world. He would then meet Selena again here and learn that she had been watching him. He was the most entertaining thing she had ever seen and she would help him to 'keep the show going'.

Alex's kingdom would evolve into a inter-dimensional Empire as he explored new worlds. While at first this was a grab for power, he now offers it as a home to those who will loose their own universes as a haven. He seeks to understand the universe and hopefully find a way around it's cycle of destruction and make it infinite.

This however would be put on halt as he was ambushed during a dimensional jump and has now lost his memory. Selena has found him but is finding it difficult to restore him. Knowing a brute force method would likely make it worse, she has been trying a gentle approach to bring Alex back. But she is unaware of the two new minds inside Alex. Baring his full restoration.

Alex sadly does not remember his Empire or even the Family he has built with it.

As the Emperor, Alex wields the power of authority in a very literal sense. Those who oppose him feel a nigh overwhelming pressure of his presence over their mind. Feeling the pressure to head his words. While this isn't mind control of complete domination of the mind, the individuals feel the power wash over them and only those with very strong wills will not be affected by it's pressure.
Alex exerts powers akin to that of a wraith, his body will ebb and flow through the space around him as if unobstructed.
While he can feel pain and 'die', he will rise again as his soul will not leave in a conventional way.
While he has visited more technological advanced worlds, he has found a favor in the ways of the blade.
