For solid colors, try some conte crayon or even marker to lay down the base then go over that with colored pencils. You'll save a lot of time.

You achieved some nice textural effects with the fur and bark, and some nice, natural-looking color mixing. I like the warm earth tones of the whole thing, and how it's contrasted by the little bit of blue showing through the background.

My main crit would be that the wolf's neck looks is very thin, which looks odd on such a realistic wolf. I like my wolves with powerful, fluffy necks.
