12/26/'24-GCLF winners: 11/33 Livermore- Philippine Xmas
posted 8 months ago Watcher, learner & scribe
From the photo before the last, on the right of the path I walked on, there is the individual exhibits that you may see in other contries as they celebrate "Christmas Around the World." Here, this is the Philipines, and you can see that there are MANY things that they would do for Christmas. One can imagine that the Filipino(a)s are quite religious, as they do have many things pertaining to Virgin Mary, shepherds, and even the recreation of Jesus in the manger. There is an associated hat (lower right), and fans- but look closely at the fan-funnily the person asks for money and no I.O.U.'s!
The one thing that will be significant is that glass star in a circle-it is a rich tradition for any Filipinx to have, called a "parol"- a symbol of Christmas and it is comparable to a wreath. Do note the book at lower left- Pasko! The Philippine Christmas-there are many many things that the Pinoy would do for Christmas-they dance and even have some fireworks! (I did not read, but I got this article to get a rough idea on what it is about: www.philstar.com/entertainment/2023.....traditions-old-and-new ) So if ever that you would want to vacation in Philippines for Christmas, I would feel that it would be very memorable. Go one day! (I do have plans to visit at least Manila, myself since Philippine Airlines [ www.philippineairlines.com/ph/en/home.html ] does serve my airport San Francisco-why not!?)
