One of my biggest headcanons, which I believe would be true to their characters, is that Penelope Pussycat (Looney Tunes) and Blaze the Cat (Sonic the Hedgehog) are talented pianists, and one of their favourite Classical composers whose piano music they adamantly practice and perform is Muzio Clementi, born in Rome, Italy, back on 23 January, 1752 and died in Evesham, UK on 10 March, 1832.
This drawing was made in commemoration to Clementi's 273rd birthday, where Penelope and Blaze (as an adult) are standing next to a portrait of him, who is anthrofied as a lion in their universe. I got that idea from Arthur and various cartoons where they would make anthro versions of famous celebrities and historical figures. Yes, Clementi lacks a mane and his ears are obscured, but that's because of the time period he was from, which is the mid to late 18th century, so in a time when people wore powdered wigs, and the reason I picked a lion for him to be as an anthro is based on the fact that he was an Italian from Rome, so you might get the reference, especially when you remember the lions from Spyro: Year of the Dragon and Spyro: Season of Ice where they're residents of Sunny Villa and Roman City. Not to mention that I did a poll over on a Discord server asking what animal would fit Clementi, and the lion choice won a majority. Since both Penelope and Blaze are in a concert dedicated to Clementi's music, Blaze is wearing formal attire, as tomboys, despite their personalities, are not entirely above wearing dresses, which all depends on the circumstances.
So here's to Clementi's 273rd birthday, and here's to Penelope and Blaze, the mentor and student respectively, for helping to bring his piano music into recognition. Many who are familiar with Clementi might only remember the Op. 36 Sonatinas, but he's got a whole lot of piano music to explore, including his sonatas which were influential to Beethoven, and he even wrote a few symphonies, one of which, the 3rd symphony that is dubbed the "Great National," has a theme and variations movement based on the British national anthem God Save the King/Queen. Have a listen to his music, if you can, as I'll share a couple of samples.
