The creature freezes if anyone comes into view. The hind limbs end in bony appendages that make movement difficult. Slow. The massive back is curved into a hump, resembling a bud or a cone in shape. Strobilus almost always holds his hands in front of him, covering his body and face. The creature seems to be in a daze until it is touched.

Strobilus has five eyes, the movement of the pupils is not synchronized. Visual clarity is unknown. Foliage is coming out of the crown, the hole is ragged. Most of the flesh is covered with chitin, except for the arms, head and hump around the circumference. The top of the hump has bony growths in the form of thorns. The soft part of the hump is mobile and capable of contracting (flattening). Periodically, it drops growths aimlessly.
