Here’s something different I've been working on for a while. What I find more interesting about this prop was not the final product, but the process of making it. I really can talk for hours about all the steps of the process… ;)

So, this model is from the game Borderlands, which boasts ‘millions’ of different in-game weapons. Each component of the gun (such as barrel, grip, body and whatnot) is a separate model, allowing the game to mix and match combinations.

As fascinating that may be, I thought it would be a much cooler if I can make my own! So after a lengthy time of extracting the models (similar to sprite ripping from other games, just in 3D), cleaning it up a bit and papercrafting it as usual, I attempted painting it. That was its own adventure, with the spray paints, acrylics and using many brushes, whoa! Then I ruined it all by trying to give it that old and worn look...

Oh and I hope that I don’t give the wrong impression that I am some crazed gunman. Frankly, I don’t know much about firearms, I just happen to have a fascination with over-sized, sci-fi revolvers. ;3
