So, doing swordfighting, I wanted to have some gear that reflects my learning 13-15th century swordplay. I ended up getting a doublet and breeches over hose. They're very capable fighting equipment in their own right, but I feel very good in them, and I wore the enemble to my local meet on Sunday.
