Happy Australia Day 2025 From the Aussie Anthros
G'day, mates! 26 January, which is Australia Day here, has passed, but I managed to draw a picture for the occasion, which is probably the biggest one I've done yet as I put together a whole group of characters (10 in total), that are either Australian by canon, or possibly one in some way. They are the following, from left to right:
- Rocko Rama (Rocko's Modern Life)
- Krusha (Donkey Kong Country)
- Blinky Bill
- Ty the Tasmanian Tiger
- Sonic the Hedgehog
- Crash Bandicoot
- Jake (The Rescuers Down Under)
- Taz the Tasmanian Devil (Looney Tunes)
- Sin Silver (Brok the Investigator)
- Bluey Heeler (Bluey)
There are more I was going to draw like E. Aster Bunnymund from Rise of the Guardians, Skippy the Kangaroo, and Hippety Hopper, another Looney Tunes character, but I wasn't able to fit more, and drawing 10 characters in one picture took a lot out of me. Besides, I believe I have picked the cream of the crop. And some may seem like questionable picks, like Sonic, but hear me out, I base the choices not just by nature of the characters, but also their origins and themes. With Sonic, for example, he was born in Kiritmati, a Polynesian island, but the series as a whole gives off Oceania vibes, for the most part, with some even hinting out they could be set in Tasmania or someplace nearby. Not to mention that I thought of Sonic being raised in Australia early in his childhood before moving to South Island, and he travels around the world in his own leisure, besides foiling Dr. Eggman's schemes. Krusha even seems Australian to me as I see Krusha as a type of name that sounds right at home here, and I thought of it as his family giving him their own diminutive of his birth name Kristian, which sounds fairly similar, besides the diminutive being based on developing muscles as a young Kremling. And if you can't tell, Sin Silver, the one with the police uniform, is a kangaroo.
Anyways, hope you love this drawing, peeps! Also thank
bluemario1016 who did the digitising and colouring. Happy Australia Day to all of you and especially to my fellow Aussies Australia, and I'll see you guys again later!

Technically, Sonic would be Polynesian born since his birthplace is Kiritimati (Christmas Island), however, it's easy to consider him Australian when many of the places in the Sonic games have an Oceania vibe to them they could easily fit as being either in the island state of Tasmania or somewhere nearby. This may be a headcanon of mine, but I believe Sonic was raised somewhere in Australia early in his childhood prior to residing in South Island in which his adventures in the series began, which can make sense when you look at him and notice how he is predominantly blue and wears red and white sneakers, which is close to the colour scheme of the Australian flag. I know some fans consider him American, but that fits more for Mario since he is established as an Italian-American plumber from Brooklyn.
